Rue Des Cascades

"Indeed, in the field of landscape painting enormous gaps are beginning to show themselves, and I should like to apply Herkomer's words to it : the interpreters allow their cleverness to mar the dignity of their calling. And I believe the public will begin to say : deliver us from artistic compositions, give us back the simple field."
Vincent van Gogh, letter 251

Recovering from yesterday's race, so I ran just 5 miles under a gloomy, cold sky. Running has toughened me up, no matter the weather I am outside, admiring, freezing, sniffling, sweating, feeling heavy and lopsided, but I am out there, seeing, inhaling the moments of my life.

I realize I have been neglecting my darkroom work, deciding instead to work with my digital images. I guess that is ok, when I get tired of one, I move to the other.

I need to start planning my trip to Italy. I will only have 10-12 days, so I am thinking of visiting Venice, Florence, and one more spot, not sure which. If anybody has suggestions send them my way.

Worked on this piece today :

Urbana Street
